WhatsApp has been notorious for copying features from Telegram, and the latest one seems to be animated emojis. This feature has been available on Telegram for years, and now WhatsApp is catching up by introducing it in their latest beta version.
Telegram has been adding new animated emojis to their collection with
each app update, and WhatsApp seems to be following suit. According to
WABetaInfo, who analyzed the code of the latest available version of WhatsApp
Beta, clues have been found indicating the arrival of animated emojis in the
app.
Although only one animated emoji has been found so far, it is expected
that more will be added in the future. Like in Telegram, the animated icons in
WhatsApp appear in a larger size than those without movement. This is because
the app uses the popular Lottie library, which allows developers to embed
animations in apps in a simple way.
Despite the larger size, the emoji still retains good quality, as shown
in the screenshot above. It is not yet known how many animated emojis will be
available in the final release.
As with any new feature, it is important to keep your app updated to
avoid missing out on this kind of functionality. Therefore, we recommend
downloading the latest available version of WhatsApp to stay up-to-date.
In conclusion, WhatsApp is once again copying a feature from Telegram
with the addition of animated emojis. While it remains to be seen how well this
feature will be received by WhatsApp users, it is clear that the app is working
hard to keep up with its competitors.
